Jan Peerce

JAN PEERCE (1904–1984) was a celebrated American tenor renowned for his clear, lyrical voice and expressive artistry. Born in New York City to Romanian-Jewish immigrants, Peerce trained in opera and became a principal singer with the New York City Opera. He gained widespread fame through his performances with the Metropolitan Opera, radio broadcasts, and recordings spanning opera, popular songs, and Jewish music. Peerce’s versatility and warmth made him a beloved figure in 20th-century American music.
