Notes Neomi Shemer and Her City of Gold - Jerusalem

Neomi Shemer composed a number of Hebrew songs, but she became widely known for Yerushalayim Shel Zahav, Jerusalem OF Gold, which song, although written before and first sung 10 days before The Six Day War, made Ms Shemer famous world-wide. In an interview with the narrator held one year after The Six Day War , Ms. Shemer discusses the history of the song and its effect on the Country of Israel. She tells of the thousands of letters she received praising the song and its composer. She ends the interview on this Vistas of Israel program with her rendition of Jerusalem Of Gold, which she sings in English and Hebrew. 11:00-13:20
