Notes Songs Dedicated to the Mothers of Israel

This Vistas of Israel program contains songs dedicated to the mothers of Israel pointing out that besides all the positives of being a mother, it is not always very easy. There are 4 selections on this recording:

1) Yichtal Ni'e, A Letter From Mother, is sung by Chava Alberstein and is a song originally written in Yiddish translated into Hebrew. It is the story of a letter a soldier son writes to his mother about his military adventures and her loving reply to him.

2) Ima Yachora, Dear Mother, is sung by Yafa Yarkoni and a children's choir.

3) Sher Le'Ima, A Song To Mother, is sung Yahon Gaon, and is a song about a son probably far away from home.

4) Tagiti Ima, Tell Me, Mother, is a song sung by an unnamed female voca list and tells a story of a young girl inquiring of her mother about her father killed in battle who lies in a cemetery they are visiting.

Recordings restricted by copyright will only play 45 seconds to give you a sense of what that recording originally sounded like. These recordings can be identified by the words (Research Station) in the music player.
