Notes Interview with Actor Haim Topol

Haim Topol is Israel's leading international movie star and is known simply as Topol. He received the role of Tevye in the London stage production of Fiddler on the Roof and from there did the same role in the American movie production. As with many future stars, Topol got his start in an entertainment group of the Israel armed forces for 2 1/2 years. From there he went to a kibbutz and formed an actor's group which became very successful. There are 4 selections on this Vistas of Israel program:

1) Tradition from Fiddler On The Roof.

2) If I Were A Rich Man from Fiddler On The Roof.

3) Old Sala Shabati Story from the film, Sala. This movie was made when Topol was 28 and played the part of an old man. He was 33 when he did the London Fiddler production.

4) Market Place is one of Topol's early songs
