Notes | Chassidic Song Festival The first Chassidic Song Festival is the topic of today's Vistas of Israel program. It took place in Tel Aviv and was repeated in Jerusalem and Haifa. Because of the organizers of this Festival, Chassidic music took on a new and modern sound. There are 5 selections on this program: 1) V'ha'er A'min, And You Have Lit Up Our Eyes was composed by Shlomo Charlebach and is sung by the Shosharim. The words are from liturgy. 2) Sa'ma Nafshi, My Soul Thirsts For The Lord, is sung by the sisters Galia and Mira Rabinovich. This song won first place at the Festival. 3) O'seh Sholom Bim'romov, He Who Makes Peace In High Places, is sung by Yigal Vashan. 4) Thagas Ev In'Kevis, And The Wolf Shall Lie Down With The Sheep, is sung by Rochel Atas. 5) Y'rushala'yim Harim Savivla, is sung by the Festival Choir and is a song of rejoicing in the Lord protecting Jerusalem by mountains and the Lord therefore protecting the inhabitants. |
