The Recorded Sound Archives (RSA) is a unit of FAU Libraries Special Collections department. We are located in the Wimberly Library on FAU's Boca Raton campus.

Originally established in 2002 as a small project dedicated to the preservation of recorded Jewish music, it has matured into a robust digitization operation for all types of sound recordings.

Notes Songs from the Israel Song Festival

Every year at the time of the Independence Day celebrations the Israel Song Festival is held before an audience of thousands in the City of Jerusalem's Convention Center. The Kol Yisrael Orchestra accompanies and there are 4 selections on today's program.

1) A Song With Four Verses is sung by an unnamed female singer. 1:29-3:46

2) The Journey Home is sung by an unnamed male singer. It is about a young man's travel to home and the song was one adopted by the young soldiers. 4:10-6:24

3) An untitled song sung by an unnamed male singer and an unnamed female singer is about the love letters sent between a soldier and his girl. 6:47-10:46

4) The Ballad Of A Medical Orderly is a story of an orderly who risks his life to save a wounded soldier and although he saves the soldier the orderly himself is shot and killed with the wounded soldier calls out "My brother" It is sung by an unnamed male singer and this song was the first prize winner. 11:07-14:01
