The Recorded Sound Archives (RSA) is a unit of FAU Libraries Special Collections department. We are located in the Wimberly Library on FAU's Boca Raton campus.
Originally established in 2002 as a small project dedicated to the preservation of recorded Jewish music, it has matured into a robust digitization operation for all types of sound recordings.

| Notes | International Artists Sing Israeli Songs Because of the Bible as a source of musical poetry and because so many emigrants to the State of Israel brought their musical heritage with them, a number of international stars took Israeli songs and gave them their own style as in the following 5 selections: 1) Ha'Yoshevit Beganim, is from the Bible's The Song Of Songs and is sung by Harry Belefonte.2:67-4:35 2) L'compenone la Chansauis, a French vocal group combined with an Israeli group known as La Chav et Navor and put together a Franco-Israel production of Hava Nagila sung in both Hebrew and French.5:04-7:45 3) The great African singer, Miriam Makeba, sings Shivolet, a song expressing Man's gratitude to G'd for the abundant blessings bestowed upon the soil. 8:16-10:01 4) The Weavers of the United States, a folk music group that included Pete Seeger, brought back folk music during the time of jazz and the fox trot and reminded people of folk's riches. They sing an unnamed song about a garden, an apple tree and two lovers, but it is totally unrelated to "original sin". 10:35-12:39 5) Josephine Baker sings yet another version of Hava Nagila. 12:57-13:53 |
