Notes Songs of Israel/Aris San and Aliza Azikri

Aris San is a composer and a singer of Israeli folk songs with a Mediterranean sound. As the narrator points out, new sounds in Israeli music is nothing new, knowing that many of its citizens come from just as many diverse backgrounds. Aliza Azikri was discovered by San, taught by him and now sings with him. There are 4 selections on this Vistas of Israel program:

1) This untitled song is about a woman who wants to get a ring around her finger and is a warning to men to be careful of these wiles. 2:04-4:17

2) Another untitled song sung by Aliza Azikri. 4:32-6:29

3) A 3rd untitled song sung by both San and Azikri is about a girl who marries without a dowry. The pair have their house burn to the ground, but the husband is not concerned because he has her.7:02-10:10

4) The final and again untitled song is sung by San and is about the city of Tel Aviv. 10:30-13:45
