Notes | A Feature Program on Golf in Israel(narrative only) Located between Tel Aviv and Haifa is the ancient city of Caesarea and in its midst is the modern Caesarea Golf and Country Club. Its manager at the time of this Vistas of Israel radio program was Elliot Lapinsky, a former immigrant of South Africa, who is interviewed and states that the Club had about 400 members. There was nothing else offered at the club itself, but a relationship with the adjacent Club Mediterranee offered swimming privileges. Mr. Lapinsky stated that the Caesarea Club did cater to the affluent and to those who had time on their hands. There were not that many great golfers at the club because very few had started playing the game at an early age, which Lapinsky felt was most important. But he did emphasize that the older golfers were dedicated and loved the game. A 17 year old member and a champion discussed his game and stated that he had been playing golf for 5 years and had scored a 71 once on the par 72 course. |
