Notes A Meeting of Worlds in Bethlehem (mostly narrative)

This Vistas of Israel program takes place in an open air square facing the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Zubin Mehta, and the Israel Philharmonic Choir presents Verdi's Requiem. The Choir leader, Joseph Friedlander, is interviewed and talks about the Choir and the concert. The primary soloists are all renowned internationally. At the concert itself, before it began the Mayor of Bethlehem and Zubin Mehta gave brief introductory messages. There is another pause where the Muslim call to prayer is sung. The concert then begins.

Recordings restricted by copyright will only play 45 seconds to give you a sense of what that recording originally sounded like. These recordings can be identified by the words (Research Station) in the music player.
