Songs In The Quiet Of A Desert Night

At the outset, each army entertainment troupe was just that, entertaining for the military wherever it was necessary to keep the soldiers spirits at a high. Each command had its own troupe. As time went by, these troupes became very popular with the Israeli general public and provided this public with the song hits of the day. The Central Command Variety Ensemble was among the best of the best mainly operating out of the Negev Desert. Today's program features the Troupe singing 5 selections for the soldiers at a Negev location:

1) Le'acut Bicud Macaz, no English title. 2:29-3:49

2) Cum Lech El Nineveh, tells a Biblical story of the prophet, Jonah. 4:38-7:%4

3 Lehavtiach Moshav Givat Hatachmoshet, Ammunition Hill, is a song that tells the story of a hill outside Jerusalem that was fiercely defended by the Israelis with great loss of life. 9:00-10:57

4) Shir Russie Strategi, A Russian Stratigic Song. 11:30-12:52

5) Eyze Erev Yafe(check spelling), What A Beautiful Evening, is a sentimental love song. 13:00-14:03
