The Recorded Sound Archives (RSA) is a unit of FAU Libraries Special Collections department. We are located in the Wimberly Library on FAU's Boca Raton campus.
Originally established in 2002 as a small project dedicated to the preservation of recorded Jewish music, it has matured into a robust digitization operation for all types of sound recordings.

| Notes | Songs of Israel The narrator of this Vistas of Israel program discusses the fact that after 20 years since the beginnings of Israel as a State, its population from many different countries has more than doubled. The people who emigrated to Israel brought their customs, languages, cultures,traditions and music with them and the new country melded them into a unified whole. This mixture shows up in the folk songs of Israel along with the knowledge that the new country would develop its own brand of music while building it forth out of the old countries. There are 5 selections on today's program: 1) Lo Be`Yom Ve Lo Be`Layla, Not By Day, Nor By Night, is sung by an unnamed female singer and accompanied by a chorus. This is song that goes back to the pioneers from Russia who brought their musical traditions with them. 2:03-3:52 2) The Pavarim sing a medley of untitled Hassidic songs. 4:18-6:14 3) Dror Yikra, is a traditional, but modernized, Yemenite song sung by an unnamed group. 7:16-10:01 4) Ha’ Gavia, The Cup, is sung by the Yarkon River Trio. 10:40-13:04 5) Erev Shel Shoshanim, Evening Of Roses, is sung by an unnamed male group. 13:14-13:52 |
