Notes Songs of the Nahal, The Pioneer Youth Corps of Israel

Nahal is a unique group within the framework of the Israeli army. The members of Nahal are young and serve a two-fold purpose within the required military service; they defend the land and they help build new settlements. They are soldiers and farmers; defenders and builders. The Nahal Entertainment Group is made up from members of the Youth Corps and sing their story to the Country as a whole. There are 4 selections on this Vistas of Israel program:

1) Beyn Magal V'cherev,Between The Sickle And The Bayonet, symbolizes the dual role of defending the land and developing the land. 2:35-4:26

2) Sof Ha`Olam, The End Of The World, which refers to the barren Negev Desert. 5:25-7:10

3) Geshem Bo, (no english title) is one of the group's most popular hits. 8:01-10:40

4) Macha, Tomorrow, reflects the hope of the group that tomorrow will be better. 11:15-13:48
