Notes Music of Israel/The Bible in Song/

Throughout their history, the Jews clung to the Bible as the source of their people and religion in good times and bad wherever they might be. The 5 selections on this Vistas of Israel program all have the Bible as their source: 1) Eretz Savat Chalav U’dvash, The Land Overflows With Milk And Honey, is sung by The Betrov Chive Singers. 2:00-3:42

2) El Ginat Egoz, To The Nut Garden, is sung by the Parvarim and is from The Song of Songs. 4:16-6:32

3) Viyiben Uziyahu is sung by the Dudayim and is a song about a Biblical ruler of Jerusalem who fortified the city. 7:00-8:45

4) Eten Ba`Midbar, I Will Give In The Wilderness, is sung by an unnamed mixed group and is from Isaiah. 9:30-11:18

5)Jashua, Joshua tells of the biblical exploits of the Hebrews. It is sung by Erik Lavi. 11:57-14:06
