The Recorded Sound Archives (RSA) is a unit of FAU Libraries Special Collections department. We are located in the Wimberly Library on FAU's Boca Raton campus.

Originally established in 2002 as a small project dedicated to the preservation of recorded Jewish music, it has matured into a robust digitization operation for all types of sound recordings.

Itamar, uses only his first name, which means, as translated from the Hebrew, Island of Palm Trees. He is of Yemenite origin. The Jewish music of Yemen , as sung by Itamar, is a combination of Palestinian and Arab. He began his singing career when he was part of the Nahar group of the Israeli military. There are 4 selections on this Vistas of Israel program:

1) Dombari Shir is a prayer-based Yemenite song and Itamar accompanies himself on his hand drum. 1:53-4:12

2) Rachel is a love song dedicated to woman named Rachel. 5:08-8:08

3) Halaylah, The Night, is an old folk song sung by the pioneers of the yet to be Israel. 8:50-11:25

4) Nachmady L’vavi Nachmad Levavi, (no English title) is another Israeli love song. 11:48-14:39
