Notes | An Interview with Ran Eliran(mostly narrative) Ron Eliran, earlier in his career, was partnered with Nehama Hendel, as a popular singing duo. Both have gone their separate entertainment ways and both have achieved success. Jay R. Chive Shay (check spelling) conducts the interview in Tel Aviv after Mr. Eliran returned from an extensive overseas tour including the United States. He became familiar with the American folk singers of the 50's and 60's, including Pete Seeger, Odetta and many others. 1) At Amar, (no English title), is a song about love and its demands on people and is sung by Mr. Eliran. 5:04-6:36 Mr. Eliran generally tours alone and sometime in very eclectic areas. He sings in Hebrew, very often before crowds that do not know the language. But during two years spent in New York City, he learned English and even composed and sang satirical song about some American hypocrisies. 2) What Do You Do If You're Young And White And Jewish? Was composed by and sung by Mr. Eliran in the United States South and raised some eyebrows because of the song's racial and ethnic lyrics. 12:03-13:32 |
