Notes The Many Tales of Israeli Folk Music

Israeli folk music is a blend of all the ethnicities that encompass the new country. Originally, most of the people who composed musical works in Israel came from Eastern Europe and brought their musical backgrounds with them. As new groups came to the country, they also brought their musical traditions with them and helped form what became to be known as Israeli Folk Music. There are 5 selections on this Vistas of Israel program:

1) Te'hezukna, May Thy Hand Be Strengthened, is sung by an unnamed group. 1:38 - 2:23

2) Rad Halayla,Night is Falling, old hassidic song. 2:40 - 4:25

3) Bat Tzurim, Daughter Of The Rocks, is sung by an unnamed group and shows the Arabic influence.4:39 - 5:59

4) A'havat Hadassah, The Love Of Hadassah, is sung by an unnamed group and is of Yemenite origin. 6:32 - 8:51

5) Et'dodim Kola, The Time For Love, My Bride, is sung by an unnamed group and shows a Sephardic influence. 9:14 - 11:42

6) Erev Bah, Evening Comes, is sung by an unnamed group and shows a combination of many of the new elements combined in Israeli folk music. 12:02 - 12:47
