Notes Folk Songs Of Israel

Today's Vistas of Israel program highlights a singing group called Hatar Na'golim or The Roosters, who will also appear again on a future Vistas broadcast. They are one of the more popular Israeli singing groups of the time. The eight members of the group at one time served in various branches of the Israeli Military, whcic is where they got their professional start. There are 4 selections on today's broadcast:

1) Shir Ha'tar Nigol, The Song Of The Rooster, is a comedic song playing off the Group's nickname. 1:55 - 3:45

2) Shir Ha'shuk, The Song Of The Market is another comedic song about the hustle and bustle of the marketplace. 4:14 - 6:49

3) Zemer A'hva'va La'yom, is A Song Of Love To The Sea. 7:00 - 9:52

4) Ha'General Ha'Mexacani Castanjetas, The Mexican General, Castenjetas, is a spoof of a military buffoon. 10:15 - 12:54
