The Recorded Sound Archives (RSA) is a unit of FAU Libraries Special Collections department. We are located in the Wimberly Library on FAU's Boca Raton campus.

Originally established in 2002 as a small project dedicated to the preservation of recorded Jewish music, it has matured into a robust digitization operation for all types of sound recordings.

Notes Folk Songs Of Israel

Today's Vistas of Israel program has as its stars, Martha Shlamme and Natana Davrat. Ms. Shlamme has a world-wide reputation and has most recently sung at an Israeli nightclub. Ms. Davrat was born on the Russian/Polish border and settled in Israel in 1948. She was a leading singer of Israel's National Opera Company and since then she became well-known on the international scene. There are 4 selections on this recording:

1) B'eir Ba'sader, A Well In The Field, is sung by Ms. Shlamme. This is an allegorical tale about the return of the people of Israel to their homeland. 1:17 - 3:03

2) Shir Ha'kad, Song Of The Jar, is a love song and is sung by Ms. Davrat. 3:50 - 5:43
