Originally established in 2002 as a small project dedicated to the preservation of recorded Jewish music, it has matured into a robust digitization operation for all types of sound recordings.

Notes Jazz In Israel

The ZOA House in heart of Tel Aviv on Friday afternoons is the base for an informal group that meets and plays jazz. There are 4 young men in the jazz group; Mel Keller on sax and clarinet, Alex Weisberg on bass, Danny Gottfried at the piano and Mel Lachman on drums. The narrator interviews the players about the growing popularity of the genre in the Country. There are 2 non-vocal jazz selections on this Vistas of Israel program:

1) Scrapple From The Apple is a modern jazz opus. 3:53 - 6:57

2) An unnamed piece. 9:08 - 11:06

Recordings restricted by copyright will only play 45 seconds to give you a sense of what that recording originally sounded like. These recordings can be identified by the words (Research Station) in the music player.
