Notes | Interview With Dr. Howard Lindsay Dr. Howard Lindsay, acting pastor of the Jerusalem Baptist Congregation, as of the time of this Vistas of Israel broadcast, is interviewed by by correspondent Sam Albert. Rev. Lindsay, his wife and their 5 children arrived from Louisville, KY in 1945. The congregation of the church encompasses a larger area and not all members are able to attend services on a very regular basis, however, a core group does meet 3 times a week. Rev. Lindsay first came to what was then Palestine in 1939, attended Hebrew University and learned to read, speak and understand Hebrew. The correspondent then spoke to Rev. Lindsay's wife and oldest child briefly, both of whom also speak Hebrew. The Lindsays indicated the positive feelings they have for Israel as opposed to their lives under the Palestine Mandate, when there was less freedom and harsher rule. The interview ends with a small portion of a Christian hymn being sung by the family. |
