The Recorded Sound Archives (RSA) is a unit of FAU Libraries Special Collections department. We are located in the Wimberly Library on FAU's Boca Raton campus.

Originally established in 2002 as a small project dedicated to the preservation of recorded Jewish music, it has matured into a robust digitization operation for all types of sound recordings.

Notes Folk Songs of Israel: Yaffa Yarkoni

This broadcast features Yaffa Yarkoni, one of best known Israeli singing artists. After an accident prevented her from fulfilling her dreams as a dancer she began singing to entertain the troops and quickly became a headliner.

1) Eretz Zuvat Chalav Ud’Vash (The Land Of Milk And Honey). 1:58 - 4:48

2) B’arvot Ha'Negev (On The Plains Of The Negev) is a song that tells of a mother who has lost her son in the War for Independence and another soldier who tells her that he will be her son. 5:55 - 9:11

3) Shoshana tells the story of the captain of the ship, Shoshana. Shoshana's goal was to bring immigrants to Palestine, during the British Mandate in the 1940's. 9:51 - 12:03
