Notes | The Voice of Shuli Nathan Shuli Nathan was born in England and came to Israel at an early age. After finishing high school, she joined the army and served as a teacher in outlying border settlements. She became famous for her rendition of Jerusalem of Gold, which was sung before the Six Day War and is the last of the 4 selections on this Vistas of Israel program: 1) Be'toret Ha'sha'ar, Open The Gates, is her first song and follows the developing early history of Israel with the displaced of Europe pouring into the new Country. 2) Sher Eris, Lullaby. 3) Puncha, Puncha, in Hebrew, Shoshan, Shoshan (no English translation given) is a song of Judeo-Spanish origin translated into Hebrew. 4) Yerushalayim Shel Zahav, Jerusalem Of Gold. |
