Notes Songs the Children Sing

In Israel there is a saying that all people are equal, but the children are more equal than everyone else. Therefore, the children are at the forefront of the family and are treated very often as adults and grow up to be quite independent. As the narrator of today's Vistas of Israel program further states that possibly the best way to show the children is through the songs they sing and the songs written about them. There are 6 selections on this program:

1) When The Children Are Happy, (no Hebrew title) is sung by a group of nursery school children for a birthday celebration. 4:26-5:48

2) Hanahag, The Driver, is sung by an unnamed male duo and is about a child's dream of being a driver. 6:11-7:!6

3) Ufi Ufi Yonati, Fly Fly Away My Dove is sung by an unnamed children's chorus. 8:10-9:09

4) Let Us Go And Rebuild Jerusalem, (no Hebrew title), is sung by an unnamed children's chorus. 10:06-11:01

5) Hopa Hay, no English title, is sung by an unnamed children's chorus and is a joyful song.11:39-12:41

6) Hayeladim Ba`Miklat, A Lullaby To The Children In The Shelters, is a sung by an unnamed female singer and is about the day when the children can come out of their bomb protective shelters and enjoy the sun, their gardens and their kibbutz like other children who know no war. 13:29-13:56
