Notes Songs of Israel

The Six Day War, according to the narrator, is to be remembered not so much for the fighting itself, but for the solidarity of the Country's people and their support for the troops. Israel's entertainers were of like thought and went to the fronts to help keep the spirits of the armed forces at a high. Many of these entertainers became well-known throughout Israel because of their performances. There are 4 selections on this Vistas of Israel program:

1) Joshua is sung by Arik Lavi. The song tells the Biblical story of Joshua and how he brought the Jews out of the desert after the death of Moses and of the battles against superior forces that the Jews won. The song is compared with the victories of the Six Day War.

2) Machar, Tomorrow, is sung by an unnamed female singer(Neomi Shemer) who tells the story of a wonderful peaceful world, if not today, then tomorrow.

3) Im anu maamanim?, If We Believe, is sung by The Parvarim. Perhaps. if we believe, things will wind up well.

4) Tachziki Lanu Etzbaotayich, Keep Your Fingers Crossed For Us, is a song for the troops going off to the fronts is sung by an unnamed male group.
