Notes Songs Of Israel

One of Israel's passions is the ideal and fruition of "development". The sight of empty land is abhorrent to Israeli thought. And so it is that so much of the Country's music is about the development of the land. There are 4 selections on this Vistas of Israel program:

1) Ariv Bar is a song about the Negev and is sung by Theodore Bikel. 0:53 - 3:58

2) Shir Ha'emek, The Song Of The Emek (a patchwork valley in the Gallil), is sung by The Shir Hushiron Ensemble with Hadassah Siganov as vocal soloist. 4:28 - 7:05

3) Ha'vaneza Bimachal, A Joyous Harvest Dance, is sung by an unnamed female singer and is about the farming industry of the young country of Israel. 7:26 - 8:55

4) Imach Rushti, With My Plow, is sung by an unnamed choral group and is a song about Israel's pioneers. 9:16 - 12:30
