Notes Folk Songs Of Israel/Damari & Shlammo

Martha Shlammo is one of the most popular entertainers in the U.S. She is a native of Vienna and speaks more than a dozen languages. Shoshana Damari is a Yemenite and is considered to be the most popular Israeli singer. There are 4 selections on this Vistas of Israel program:

1) Shnai Shoshanim, Two Roses, sung by Ms. Shalmmo, is an allegory about two roses growing side by side on the same vine. One gets plucked. It is said the one that remained had its heart broken on the loss of a friend. 1:45 - 4:21

2) Hanahava Babanaut , Fairest Among Maidens, is sung by Ms. Shlammo, is a poetic love song. 4:40 - 7:00

3) Aitz Se'ker, Where Is Your Justice?, is sung by Ms. Damari and is an appeal by a lover to his beloved. 7:30 - 9:57

4) Mi'pi Ail, From The Mouth Of G'd, is a Yemenite song sung by Ms. Damari and is an exultation of the Bible and Israel. 10:27 - 12:47
