Notes One MIllionth Immigrant

August 29, 1961 was the day that the millionth immigrant had arrived in Israel. Of those one million, one half are Holocaust survivors from Europe and the other half came from countries from all over the rest of the world. Stories are told of the struggles of hundreds who died trying to get to what was then Palestine. The Captain of the ship Exodus is interviewed concerning the travels of the Exodus before its arrival in Palestine. A former Lt. Col. of the U.S. Air Force tells of the Yemenite Jews flight to Israel, which was called "Operation Magic Carpet". With all of the hurdles Israel had in getting the people into their new home, the country was looking forward to receiving its next million immigrants.
