Notes Songs of Israel: The Trio Aravah

The Trio Aravah was composed of three young men and a guitar. The group symbolized the new mood and the new voice of the new country of Israel. However, the songs of this group are quieter and more thoughtful compared to what Israeli songs are usually noted for such as bounce, joyfulness and exuberance. The three came from Eastern Europe, although at an early age, but that fact has colored their singing. They formed after a rehearsal for a play in 1956. This program has 5 of group's selections: 0:55 -1:30

1) Orcha Bamidbar, Caravan In The Desert, is a song about the lonliness and beauty of a caravan in the desert. 2:27 - 5:05

2)Aravah,is a song about the Israeli cowboy. 5:40 - 7:40

3) Lamidbar, To The Desert. 7:55 - 9:26

4) Sheha-gibor H'ayim, The Hero's Return, is a favorite of the Military. 9:30 - 12:05

5) Shedem-ati, My Land, is a song about the devotion the farmer has to his land. 12:19 - 13:41
