The Recorded Sound Archives (RSA) is a unit of FAU Libraries Special Collections department. We are located in the Wimberly Library on FAU's Boca Raton campus.

Originally established in 2002 as a small project dedicated to the preservation of recorded Jewish music, it has matured into a robust digitization operation for all types of sound recordings.

Notes Music Of Israel: Ballads

Ballads tell a story. There are many stories to tell about Israel.

1) Haselah Ha'adom (The Ballad Of The Red Rock). Sung by Aria Levy. 1:19 - 4:50

2) Sh�ney Chaveyrim (The Two Friends). Sung by Yaffa Yarkoni. This is the story of two soldier friends, one of whom was fatally wounded in the War for Independence. Knowing he was dying, the wounded soldier turns down aid but accecpts a drink of wine with his friend. 5:20 - 7:54

3) Sheer Haleytzan (The Clown Song). Sung by Benny Berman and the N'aorim Trio. It is a story about a clown is funny on the outside, but cries on the inside. 8:22 - 11:30

4) Hakatar (The Steam Engine). Sung by Arik Levy. This is the story of an old steam engine that winds up in the junk yard waiting to be replaced by a modern diesel locomotive. 12:01 - 15:09
