You may ask yourself\u2026 <\/strong>how did a Yiddish story by Sholem Aleichem, based on a surrealistic painting by Marc Chagal, become one of the world’s most popular shows?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may ask yourself\u2026. <\/strong>how could a 1964 Broadway musical touch audiences after 50 years?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, of course…. if you know \u201cFiddler on the Roof\u201d you wouldn\u2019t have to ask!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Fiddler,\u201d as depicted by Marc Chagal, symbolizes the struggle for survival and balance in a precarious world.  A precarious world?  That is something Jews know a little something about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Tevye\u2019s confident reliance on \u201cTradition\u201d to the sweet naivet\u00e9 of \u201cMatchmaker, Matchmaker;\u201d from Tevye\u2019s ultimate acceptance of his life in \u201cIf I Were a Rich Man\u201d  to the bitter-sweet realization that life is an ever-changing landscape in \u201cSunrise, Sunset;\u201d the collaboration of Jerry Bock (music) and Sheldon Harnick (lyrics) touches our hearts with one of life\u2019s greatest lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We yearn for stability and tradition while, at the same time, we are compelled to adapt to change.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
